About
The purpose of All Addictions Anonymous (Secular) is to help individuals overcome addiction, build strong character, and become healthy and balanced in all areas of life through a secular recovery program of action, with open discussion meetings designed to discuss any problem, addiction, or compulsive behavior, including but not limited to:
Alcoholism and other drug addictions, including nicotine and caffeine addiction, eating disorders, compulsive gambling, sexual addiction, codependency, and other compulsive behaviors.
To help create a safe and recovery-focused environment for everyone, we refrain from vaping, smoking, drinking coffee, eating, and similar activities during our meetings. Because we are an all-addictions fellowship, these activities may be triggering to others.
At our meetings, the definition of “Open Discussion” is: “A dialogue where anyone can participate and say anything unless it is against our Traditions or the group disapproves of the direction one is going in. We generally don’t take turns, and there is no topic. Simply jump in if you would like to share.”
There are no dues or fees for membership. Our Eighth Tradition states: “Every group should be self-supporting through voluntary contributions from those who participate in our meetings.”
We don’t offer prayers or engage in spiritual or religiously oriented discussions. However, you may express your frustrations toward religion, spirituality, or the concept of God, and what has led you to find solace and comfort in a secular meeting.
AAA (Secular) is a Nine Step recovery program. However, taking the Nine Steps is not required for membership. They are available to anyone who wishes to use them as a guide for personal growth and recovery.
Our Fourth Tradition states: “The only requirement for AAA (Secular) membership is a desire to stop practicing your addiction.”
